Tacoma Model Family Workshops & Events for 2010:

What's New in 2011!

Emphasize Life Sciences! Our newest program direction is centered on exposing families & youth to life sciences. Model Families welcomes our partners in the effort:
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Tacoma Nature Center, Tahoma Audubon Society

Emphasize the Arts! Model Families is working hard to partner with existing local organizations and patrons to bring our families the very best in local arts. We thank our community partners who make these opportunities possible: Museum of Glass, Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma City Ballet

Family Day at Museum of Glass & Tacoma Art Museum
Beginning in January every second Saturday of each month from noon- 5pm at the Museum of Glass and every last Saturday of each month from noon-5pm at Tacoma Art Museum.

Family Day experience will be presented at the Museum of Glass and Tacoma Art Museum to participants in the Model Family Mentorship Program. The themes and activities explored in this program relate to the exhibitions in our galleries, giving our family visitors an in-depth look into the concepts and ideas behind the artwork. Family Day programs includes a variety of experiential activities for children and adults, with activities taking place throughout the museum. Through viewing and creating artwork together families can have a shared experience that stimulates their creativity and encourages their expression.

Elements of Music
The essential ingredients of music when combined cause music to make sounds that can resonate throughout a child's life into adulthood! This family workshop series introduces musical rhythms, beats, and fun learning for the entire family. "A family that plays music together, grows together".
